Riyadh (Saba)- Vice President Ali Muhsin Saleh met Tuesday with the acting US Ambassador to Yemen Richard Riley, discussing mutual relations between the two friendly countries and how to enhance them at all levels.
Vice President welcomed the acting ambassador, appreciating the significant role played by the United States in supporting the legitimate government and the efforts of the Arab Coalition aiming at restoring the legislation in Yemen.
They also dealt with diplomatic efforts exerted to reach a reconciliation according to the GCC-brokered Initiative, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and the UN resolutions on Yemen.
Vice President spoke about the efforts exerted by the government backed by the Saudi-led Arab Coalition in fighting terrorism and the successes achieved.
Vice President also mentioned the challenges placed by the Houthis-Saleh militias in the way of resuming the political process. He said that the militias jeopardize the international navigation and waterways, and indiscriminately fire projectiles on civilians in Taiz and other areas.
For his part, the acting ambassador expressed pleasure for the meeting, emphasizing that his country supports the legitimate government and denounces the trafficking of Iranian weapons to the Houthis.
Richard appreciated the performance of the Yemeni government in providing services to Yemenis, expressing the willingness of the United States to enhance cooperation and coordination in counter-terrorism efforts.
