Yemeni Ambassador to Austria Haytham Shoja'aadin met Wednesday with Nicholas Lauterotti, Director of International Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid at the Austrian Foreign Ministry, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries.
During the meeting, Ambassador Shoja'aadin briefed the Austrian official on the latest developments in Yemen, including military, security and humanitarian developments, the Yemeni government's efforts to restore state institutions, and its response to the challenges and crises created by the Houthi terrorist militia, as well as the humanitarian consequences of its siege of Taiz Governorate.
The ambassador said the Houthi militia's continued violations against civilians in Taiz constitute a humanitarian crime. He commended Austria's continued humanitarian assistance to Yemen and expressed his country's hope for a greater Austrian role in supporting relief efforts for people displaced by the Houthi militia's escalation.
