The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs welcomed the joint statement issued at the quadrilateral consultative meeting of the foreign ministers of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Republic of Turkey, held in New York on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, which confirmed the four countries’ firm support for the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) and the Yemeni government.

The ministry also welcomed the statement issued by the foreign ministers of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Japan as well as the EU High Representative, which affirmed their countries’ rejection of disrupting navigation in the Straits of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandeb, warning that any disturbance to navigation there could threaten security and prosperity.

The ministry similarly welcomed the joint statement by the foreign ministers of Germany, Australia, France, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Poland, and the United Kingdom regarding developments in Yemen and the Red Sea, and what they represent as a threat to regional stability and security, energy security, as well as navigation-related rights and freedoms.

The ministry held the Houthi militias responsible for these attacks and their repercussions and it also holds the Iranian regime accountable for continuing its military support for them and for trying to use Yemen and its strategic location to serve its regional agenda and threaten the security of neighboring countries, at the expense of Yemen's sovereignty and the interests of its people.

The ministry valued the countries' reaffirmation of their unwavering support for the PLC and the internationally recognized Yemeni government, and for backing their efforts to achieve security, stability and development in Yemen.

The way to resolve the Yemeni crisis lies in eliminating the Houthi coup, restoring state institutions, and asserting control over the entire territory, in accordance with the three reference frameworks agreed upon nationally, regionally, and internationally, in a way that preserves Yemen's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, the ministry stressed.
