Minister of Finance Marwan bin Ghanem held a virtual meeting Thursday with the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to Yemen Abda Sharif, discussing with her UK support for the Yemeni government in the areas of economic and political reforms.
Support to government's 2026 program was discussed.
The meeting also addressed the TAFFY team initiative launched in January 2025 and led by the United Kingdom to support the reform program in the economic and political fields.
The initiative aims to provide technical assistance and expertise to the Yemeni government.
Its objectives include supporting the government reform program, improving the performance of government institutions, delivering essential services to citizens and strengthening economic and political stability in Yemen.
During the meeting, both parties reviewed aspects of British and international financial and political support for the TAFFY team aimed at helping provide economic and political assistance to the government and backing its efforts to continue implementing comprehensive economic, financial, monetary and administrative reforms.
He pointed out to government's efforts to achieve stability and improvement in the national economy, ensure the provision of essential services, improve overall conditions, and strengthen stability.
For her part, the British Ambassador reaffirmed her country’s commitment to continuing support for Yemen and its people across various sectors of life, and to backing government efforts aimed at continuing comprehensive reforms, strengthening the performance of state institutions, and improving overall conditions—particularly economic and service sectors—while enhancing citizens’ living standards.
She also reiterated the United Kingdom’s support for efforts to achieve comprehensive and lasting peace, security, stability and development in Yemen.
