Member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Abdulrahman al-Muharrami, underscored the importance of advancing the transport sector and enhancing its efficiency in a manner that serves national interests and improves the quality of services provided to citizens.
This came during his meeting, today, with Minister of Transport Mohsen Haidara, during which they discussed a number of issues related to the transport sector and ways to develop the infrastructure of ports, airports, and land crossings, in order to strengthen their vital role in supporting the national economy and facilitating trade and mobility.
Al-Muharrami also congratulated the minister on gaining the confidence of the Presidential Leadership Council and his appointment as Minister of Transport, wishing him success in carrying out his duties.
Al-Muharrami praised the continued support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen, to the transport and aviation sectors.
He noted that the latest of these efforts included the laying of the foundation stone for the third phase of the rehabilitation and development project of Aden International Airport, at a cost exceeding USD 12 million.
The project includes the rehabilitation of the airport runway and equipping it with modern navigation systems, in addition to the launch of a new air route between Jeddah and Socotra, which will enhance external connectivity and stimulate tourism activity.
He stressed the need for integrated efforts among all relevant entities and for work to proceed in accordance with well-considered plans based on transparency and efficiency, contributing to improved institutional performance of the ministry and strengthening public confidence in the services provided by this vital sector.
For his part, the Minister of Transport expressed his appreciation for the attention and support of Presidential Leadership Council Member Abdulrahman al-Muharrami, affirming the ministry’s leadership commitment to working as one team and implementing development programs aimed at advancing the transport sector and improving the quality of its performance across various fields.
