The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs Dr. Mansour Bajash discussed Sunday with the Korean Ambassador Bong Kai Do ways to enhance and develop bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various fields, in a manner that serves their shared interests and helps both sides take steady steps forward.
During the meeting, the Deputy Foreign Minister reviewed the latest developments in Yemen and the efforts exerted by the Yemeni government to achieve a just and comprehensive peace, end the Houthi militia coup and restore state institutions.
He affirmed the government’s keenness to support United Nations efforts in a way that fulfills the aspirations of the Yemeni people for security and stability.
Dr. Bajash also addressed recent developments in the governorates of Hadhramout and al-Mahra, stressing the importance of maintaining security and stability, prioritizing dialogue, and avoiding any unilateral measures that could complicate the situation or negatively impact de-escalation efforts.
He pointed to the efforts and initiatives undertaken by the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council and the role of brotherly countries in containing tensions and supporting stability.
For his part, the Korean Ambassador referred to the United Nations Security Council statement regarding the commitment of member states, including the Republic of Korea as a non-permanent member, to Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and their support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government, as well as joint efforts to achieve lasting peace and security for the Yemeni people.
He emphasized strong and continued support for efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive political settlement in Yemen.
The Korean Ambassador also welcomed the efforts that led to an agreement on the release of a number of prisoners and detainees, considering it an important humanitarian step that contributes to building confidence and creating a more flexible environment for the peace proces.
