Yemen's Ambassador discusses latest development in Yemen with Austrian Official

Yemen's Ambassador to Austria Haitham Shujaa al-Din, discussed Friday with the Director of the Political Department at the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hanna Likou bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and the latest development in Yemen and the region.

Ambassador Shujaa al-Din briefed the Austrian official on the political and economic situation in Yemen, emphasizing the importance of implementing the ban on Iranian weapons smuggled to the terrorist Houthi militias, cutting off their funding sources, and deterring their threats to the security and stability of Yemen and the region.

He also outlined the challenges facing the Yemeni government due to the ongoing targeting of oil export ships and platforms by Houthi militias in the ports of Al-Dhaba, al-Nushima and Qena in Hadhramout and Shabwa.

He stressed the necessity of exerting pressure on the militias to halt these attacks, which have caused significant economic burdens and exacerbated the humanitarian crisis.

Ambassador Shujaa al-Din expressed his hope for continued Austrian humanitarian and developmental support for Yemen throughout 2025.

For her part, the Austrian official reiterated her country’s commitment to providing all forms of support to achieve peace and stability in Yemen.
