The rate of consumer price inflation decreased in in the Euro Area, 2.4 percent in February on an annual basis, enhancing expectations for the European Central Bank to reduce interest rates
The European Statistical Office (Eurostat) indicated in a statement today, Monday, that the rate of consumer inflation in the Eurozone, which includes 20 countries from the European Union, to 2.4 percent last February on an annual basis, compared to 2.5 percent in January, where the rate of inflation in energy prices decreased.
The data showed that inflation in the services sector, which is the largest component in the consumer price basket, slowed to 3.7 percent from 3.9 percent, after it remained close to 4 percent most of the past year.
