Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Dr. Mohammed al-Zaouri today discussed Thursday here with Dr. Iman al-Shanqeeti, the Deputy Resident Coordinator of the United Nations for Humanitarian Affairs in Yemen a number of issues related to humanitarian and development work.
During the meeting, Minister al-Zaouri emphasized the importance of transitioning from emergency relief to recovery programs and economic and community empowerment, as well as implementing sustainable economic and development projects that contribute to creating job opportunities for youth and alleviating the living crisis faced by the Yemeni people.
He pointed out the economic war waged by the Houthi terrorist militias against the state’s resources, which has led to the collapse of the local currency and the deterioration of essential services and threatening food security.
Minister al-Zaouri affirmed the Yemeni government's appreciation for the efforts of the United Nations and international organizations operating in Yemen and its readiness to provide all necessary facilities to ensure the success of the UN's humanitarian and developmental missions, ensuring that aid reaches those in need across all governorates.
For her part, the UN official reviewed the future tasks of the United Nations, affirming the organization's support for the Yemeni government's efforts to enhance economic recovery plans and alleviate the humanitarian crisis.
She noted the UN's commitment to exerting all efforts and coordinating with partners to support development programs and projects, in addition to finding sustainable solutions to displacement issues in cooperation with the ministry and relevant authorities.
