The Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) held a meeting Today, Thursday, presided over by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Council, with the presence of its members Aidarous al-Zubaidi, Dr. Abdullah al-Alimi, Othman Mujalli and via video conference Tariq Saleh and Abdul Rahman al-Mahrami, while Council members Sultan al-Aradah and Faraj al-Bahsani were absent with excuse.

Meeting discusses the support provided for development efforts in Yemen

The Deputy Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Nizar Basuhayb, discussed on Tuesday with the World Bank Group Country Director, Dr. Dina Abu Ghaida, and the Regional Vice President for the Middle East and North Africa, Hala Abbed, and the accompanying team, the aspects of support provided by the International Finance Corporation for a number of projects supporting development efforts in the country.

The meeting touched on the prospects for existing and future cooperation between the government and the institution, ways to enhance it, and the possibility of expanding the institution's portfolio in Yemen to help implement many priority projects in vital sectors and create job opportunities for youth and support the private sector to play its role in improving the economic and investment conditions.

The meeting reviewed the interventions and projects being implemented by the International Finance Corporation and the World Bank in the agriculture, fisheries and food security sectors through the private sector, and the feasibility of these projects in overcoming the challenges created by the war and working to improve the services provided to citizens, as well as how to take advantage of investment opportunities in promoting local products and assisting in implementing the priorities of the public-private partnership through the financing tools available to the institution.

The meeting stressed the need to intensify efforts and develop plans in coordination between the government and its active partners in the World Bank Group, including the International Finance Corporation, to stand up to the nature and quality of humanitarian and development services and projects that are required to be established in a number of governorate regions, contributing to covering and providing the basic needs of citizens in those regions and continuing to support the legitimate government to achieve its development priorities for the coming stages.
