The Arab League called for the concerted Arab efforts to confront the phenomenon of drought and desertification, as it is one of the most fragile regions of the world in terms of its ecosystem, and 90 percent of its area is designated as dry and extremely dry areas.
The General Secretariat of the Arab League stated, in a statement on the occasion of the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, which falls on June 17 of each year, that the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought comes this year under the slogan (United for the Earth...Our Legacy, Our Future) in order to highlight the importance of mobilizing all segments of society to support sustainable land management, stressing the need to join hands to preserve lands and limit their degradation around the world.
