BERLIN-SABA

Foreign Minister Dr. Afrah al-Zouba discussed the latest developments in Yemen with experts from German research centers specializing in Yemeni affairs, focusing on the Houthi militia's escalation since June and its severe humanitarian consequences.

She said the militia intensified its attacks following the landing of an aircraft operated by Iran-linked Mahan Air at Hodeidah Airport. The aircraft was reportedly carrying Iranian experts, funds and advanced weapons to support the militia's military escalation, in violation of Yemen's sovereignty and international laws and resolutions.

She noted that the Houthis subsequently escalated their attacks on areas along the western coast and Bab al-Mandab before those areas were liberated under Operation Yemen Dawn.

The Foreign Minister also addressed the militia's continued attacks inside Yemen and across its borders, warning that its targeting of Saudi territory threatens regional security and peace. She highlighted attacks on civilian and health facilities in Taiz Governorate and the ongoing siege imposed on the city, which has had devastating humanitarian consequences for civilians, particularly women and children.

Dr. al-Zouba underscored the important role of research centers in providing an accurate picture of developments in Yemen and conveying the voices of Yemenis to German official and public circles.

For their part, the experts expressed solidarity with Yemeni civilians over the violations they face.

They stressed the importance of supporting the Yemeni government and addressing urgent humanitarian needs through relief programs, while calling for greater attention to Yemen and for the priorities of its people to be brought to the attention of decision-makers in Germany and Europe.
