The Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen issued a decision today, Thursday, suspending the bank's transactions and dealings with a number of banks over failing to comply with the law and the bank's instructions and requirements in respect to control on money laundering and terrorism financing, and over continuing to deal with Houthis, a group labeled as terrorist.
The first article of decision (No. 20 of 2024) stipulates that all banks and companies of currency exchange and money transfer decouple with Al-Tadamon Bank, Yemen Kuwait Bank, Yemen Al-Shamel Bank, Al-Amal Microfinance Bank, Al-Kuraimi Islamic Microfinance Bank and the International Bank of Yemen.
