The Minister of Water and Environment Engineer Tawfiq al-Sharjabi met Friday with the group of donors, which includes the World Bank team led by the World Bank Country Director for Yemen Dina Abu Ghaida.
He also met with representatives of the German Reconstruction Bank (KfW), the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and the Chair of the Donor Coordination Group, Marcela.
The meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the working meetings with the World Bank, convened in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, discussed the observations of the Ministry of Water and Environment on the report of the Donor Coordination Group on the relationship between humanitarian work, development, and peace, and the proposed coordination mechanism in this framework.
The meeting also discussed ways to develop areas of joint cooperation and represent the government side in the Coordination Group as a first step for the Coordination Group to manage the interventions of donors in line with the priorities and strategies of the Yemeni government.
The Minister of Water and Environment praised the efforts made by the Donor Coordination Group to work directly with the government side within the framework of bilateral agreements aimed at enhancing the government's leading role in allocating funding based on the assessment of urgent needs and priorities in the water sector.
