The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced today the designation of 21 individuals and entities, as well as the identification of one vessel, on the sanctions list for their involvement in transporting petroleum products, purchasing weapons and equipment and providing financial services to the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militias.

President al-Alimi receives US Ambassador to Yemen

Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad al-Alimi received Saturday US Ambassador to Yemen Steven Fagin and Assistant of USAID Administrator Sonali Korde.

The meeting discussed needed international support to Yemeni economy, chances of resuming the political process in the light of Houthi terrorist militia escalation in different levels.

The meeting touched upon mutual cooperation between the two friendly countries and latest national and regional developments.

President al-Alimi renewed commitment of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to inclusive and just peace and supporting efforts of the UN envoy for Yemen for ending suffering of the Yemeni people over Houthi militia's triggered war with support from Iran.

He praised US humanitarian and developmental interventions, hoping for increasing this support and the ideal employment of it to help alleviate difficult conditions of the Yemeni people and rebuilding their legal institutions.

President al-Alimi confirmed support of the council and the government to humanitarian community's work against Houthi terrorist militia's measures against employees of the relief agencies from US and UK nationals and providing all facilitations to the humanitarian work from the transitional capital of Aden.
