Prime Minister Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik chaired a Cabinet meeting in the interim capital, Aden, today during which developments in the situation and public affairs on the national scene were discussed in the political, military, security and service fields.
The meeting reviewed the level of implementation of decisions related to a number of issues; followed up on the prioritized implementation of those decisions; discussed the reform program, and issues on the agenda
The Prime Minister gave a comprehensive briefing to the ministers on recent developments on the national scene, and reports submitted by ministers, especially service ministries, on their field work on the ground to alleviate the suffering of citizens.
Dr. Abdulmalik touched on the results of his meeting with the European Union mission and the ambassadors of a number of European Union countries accredited to Yemen, during their recent visit to Aden, and the European positions in support of a political solution, and supporting the efforts of the government and the Presidential Leadership Council in facing exceptional challenges, especially in the economic and humanitarian aspects reiterating the government's keenness to provide an opportunity for efforts aimed at ending the war, and the wide concessions it made in the course of the truce, and its heavy burdens as a result of the economic impact of the Houthi terrorist attacks on the oil sector, its continued plundering of revenues, and the deepening of suffering in the militia's areas of control.
The Prime Minister pointed to the financing challenges facing the government in implementing its inevitable obligations, with the decline in public revenues as a result of the Houthi terrorist targeting of oil export ports, and the impact of this on efforts to improve services, and the dependence on the brothers, friends and partners of Yemen, in the forefront of which is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to provide urgent support in these exceptional circumstances, stressing that supporting the government in maintaining economic stability is an essential and sustainable approach to addressing and alleviating the human suffering caused by the terrorist Houthi militia since its military coup and its ignition of the war.
The Cabinet praised the outcomes of the 32nd Arab Summit, which was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and affirmed support for international and regional efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis based on the three references represented in the Gulf initiative and its implementation mechanisms, the outputs of the Yemeni National Dialogue and the UN Security Council resolution No. 2216.
The Cabinet welcomed the decision of the Arab League Council at the summit level to assign its General Secretariat to prepare for holding an Arab-international conference to support development in Yemen during the second half of this year, in cooperation and coordination with the government and the United Nations.. stressing keenness to prepare well for this conference to ensure the achievement of the goals It is intended to support development in Yemen.
