Yemen is participating in the United Nations Water Conference, which is being held in New York from 22-24 March, with a delegation headed by the Minister of Water and Environment, Eng. Tawfiq Al-Sharjabi.

The United Nations had called for the convening of the conference, which is co-hosted by the governments of Tajikistan and the Netherlands.

It is the first of its kind after the last conference held in 1977. It aims to accelerate urgent measures to address the global water crisis, as many issues are still pending without finding solutions until today.

The conference seeks to urge countries to fulfill the promises they made to develop effective solutions to water crises around the world. The conference will include a series of plenary sessions, interactive dialogues for stakeholders, in addition to many side events organized by member states, the United Nations system and stakeholders.
