His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Muhammad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Monday, the Ambassador of the United States of America, Steven Fagin, to discuss developments in the local situation and efforts to establish peace in Yemen.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council praised the distinguished Yemeni-American relations, and his appreciation for the United States' positions on the side of the Yemeni people and their leadership.

He also praised the effective contributions of the US Navy, in coordination with regional allies and international partners, which led to the interception of more shipments of Iranian weapons smuggled to the terrorist Houthi militia.

The meeting touched on the course of economic and service reforms and government measures to limit the catastrophic humanitarian repercussions of the Houthi terrorist attacks on oil facilities, infrastructure, and global trade supplies.

The meeting also touched on regional and international efforts aimed at reviving the political process and pushing the Houthi militia and its Iranian backers to deal seriously with good offices to end the suffering of the Yemeni people, achieve their aspirations in building the state, restore security, stability and development, and constructive integration into the regional and international environment.
