Prime Minister Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik received today the new head of the European Union delegation to Yemen, Ambassador Gabriel Vinals and reviewed with him the latest developments on the national and international arena and issues of common concern.

The Prime Minister welcomed the new head of the EU delegation, stressing that he will have all aspects of cooperation from the government to make his tasks successful, noting the firm European position in support of Yemeni government, and the generous support he provided at the Yemen Humanitarian Response Conference 2022, and his continuous keenness to establish peace and support the government to achieve economic stability and alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.

The meeting discussed regional and international developments and moves to bring peace to Yemen, the launch of Yemeni consultations under the umbrella of the Gulf Cooperation Council, and the continuation of the Houthi militia's rejection of all calls for peace.

The meeting discussed coordination to mobilize economic support for the government and the role of Yemen's brothers, friends and partners in development in this aspect, and the effective reforms undertaken by the government to mitigate the repercussions of the global situation's reflection on the national economy, and focus on the priority of food security.

The premier reiterated the government's keenness to establish lasting peace based on the three references, and to make concessions for this, and its positive interaction with all international and regional initiatives, the latest of which was participation in Yemeni consultations under the umbrella of the Gulf Cooperation Council, noting that the militias met that call and the Arab coalition's ceasefire with more mobilization of militants on the frontlines and further terrorist escalation by targeting energy sources and vital installations in Saudi Arabia.

He stressed the responsibility of the international community to pressure the Houthi militia to stop the path of violence and escalation, and yield to the peace path.
