Aden – Saba
Prime Minister Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik received today in the temporary capital Aden the resident representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Yemen.
During the meeting, they discussed areas of partnership between the government and the organization, in the field of child protection, the organization’s activities, programs and projects, the facilities provided to it, the obstacles it faces in areas controlled by the Houthi militia, and its continued recruitment of children and exposing them to danger, in addition to the ongoing preparations for the success of the Yemen Humanitarian Response Conference under the auspices of the United Nations next March.
They also discussed the inauguration of the first round of the polio vaccination campaign, which will cover about 2.5 million children in 12 governorates, over three phases, and the obstacles fabricated by the Houthi militia to obstruct them in their areas of control, and the required international pressure in this aspect.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of the campaign proceeding according to the plan agreed upon with the Ministry of Health in an accurate manner, and that the main objective is to protect Yemeni children from the recurrence of the polio epidemic, noting that this setback is due to the return of the epidemic foci after Yemen had been rid of it.
