Prime Minister Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik met with the Coordination Council of Faculty Unions in Yemeni Universities in Aden today and listened to their demands regarding addressing their living conditions, job settlements, and launching annual bonuses for staff of government-maintained universities.
The Prime Minister praised the pioneering and patriotic role of faculty members, educational and administrative cadres in government universities in the regularity of the educational process and taking care of the future of generations despite the difficult general conditions caused by the war triggered by the Houthi coup militia, and the role they played as the elite of society in normalizing the situation in the liberated areas. .
The Prime Minister affirmed the government's understanding of their demands, referring to the government's efforts from the temporary capital, Aden, to address the economic crisis, the decline in the currency exchange rate and the inflation of basic materials, fuel and services prices, which was reflected on the living situation of citizens in general, including faculty members, university employees and students.
He also stressed that the government has taken a number of measures to mitigate the effects of the economic downturn in light of the ongoing discussions with brotherly countries to obtain an urgent economic support package, in parallel with the financial, economic and structural reforms being worked on.
He noted that the government gives the higher education sector a priority, and is working to arrange the conditions of university employees with the available capabilities.
