Prime Minister Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik discussed, in a phone call today, with the US special envoy for Yemen Tim Lenderking, the latest developments in the national arena in various aspects, and the US position towards the ongoing Houthi escalation at the behest of the Iranian regime, and the militias' undermining of any steps towards peace.
The two sides confirmed the congruence of views between the Yemeni government and the United States regarding many issues, especially condemning the continued Houthi escalation and targeting civilians and displaced persons in Marib and the rest of the Yemeni regions, as well as attacks on civilian objects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with ballistic missiles and drones. They stressed the need to find an urgent suuport package to the Yemeni government to assist it in continuing reforms, achieving economic stability and alleviating the suffering of people in terms of living and services.
The discussions stressed the imperative of the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement in all its aspects, and the government's carrying out of its responsibilities to continue implementing structural reforms in the security, economic, financial and monetary aspects.
The Prime Minister praised the American support for the Yemeni government and people, and the effective and influential role played by the special envoy to mobilize international support for the government in these exceptional and difficult circumstances.
