The ministerial council of the Gulf Cooperation Council has affirmed the GCC's support to Yemen's government, represented by President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, Yemen's unity, security and independence, and to facilitating the arrival of humanitarian assistance to all parts of Yemen.

It also reiterated support to the Yemeni government's efforts to end the crisis in the country and to the United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths, and US envoy to Yemen Timothy Lenderking for their efforts to reach a political solution in Yemen.

The ministerial council welcomed the Saudi initiative to end the Yemeni crisis and reach a comprehensive political solution in accordance with the three terms of reference for peace in Yemen: The GCC initiative, the outcome of the National Dialogue Conference, and the UN Security Council resolution 2216.

In this regard, the council called on the Houthi militia to respond to this initiative, and praised the Omani mediation efforts in this regard.

The council also condemned the continued attack by Iran-backed Houthi militia on the province of Marib, and the targeted attacks on IDPs and other civilians there and the IDM camps causing an increase in the suffering of two million displacees.

The council condemned the continued smuggling of Iranian weapons to the Houthi militia in violation of Security Council resolution 2216 and demanded that the international community assumes its responsibilities in the face of the Houthi war demanding the international actors to force the militia to return to the political track to get the crisis resolved peacefully.
