[15/07/2020 03:20]

RIYADH-SABA
Foreign Minister Mohammed al-Hadrami and his Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Ahmed Nasser al-Mohammad Al-Sobah discussed Wednesday through telephone call bilateral relations between the two countries and the latest developments about the UN led peace process.

The phone conversation also touched upon Safer oil tanker problem.

Al-Hadrami stated that the government along with the UN has long been seeking to get Safer oil tanker problem resolved but the Houthis rejected all efforts made in this regard.

He said that the government has agreed recently to a proposal suggested by the UN to dispatch a technical team to inspect the tanker and unload the crude oil it contains, get rid of the tanker and use the oil revenues to pay the salaries of civil service employees in the country. He indicated that the Houthis turned down this proposal.

Al-Hadrami stated that the government is surprised and upset over the amendments recently made on the UN envoy's proposal.

The Foreign Minister highly appreciated the significant support of the state of Kuwait to Yemen in different fields.

The Kuwaiti Foreign Minister reiterated the State of Kuwait's support for the legitimate government, Yemen's security, stability, unity and territorial integrity.

He also stated that the Kuwaiti government supports the UN-lead peace efforts to make peace based on the three terms of reference including the GCC' Initiative, outcomes of National Dialogue and UNSCR 2216.
