The leaders of the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council states stressed the imperative of reaching a political solution to the Yemeni crisis, in accordance with the three terms of reference; the GCC Initiative, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference, and th UN Security Council Resolution 2216.
The statement issued by the GCC Supreme Council in its 40th annual summit expressed support for the efforts of the UN Special Envoy Martin Griffith for his efforts to broker a political solution to the crisis In Yemen according to these references.
The Council commended the efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through sponsorship the Jeddah Dialogue to bridge the rift between Yemeni actors, which culminated in the signing of the Riyadh Agreement between the Yemeni government and the Southern Transitional Council. It also commended the efforts of the United Arab Emirates to make the agreement success.
The Council welcomed the legitimate Yemeni government's embarking upon carry out duties from the temporary capital Aden in implementation of the Riyadh Agreement, in preparation for activating all state institutions in all liberated governorates.
The Supreme Council affirmed the continuity of support to development projects, which have so far exceeded $ 13 billion in value, praising the achievements of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center and the humanitarian support provided by the Office for Coordination of Relief and Humanitarian Aid at the GCC.
The statement noted the GCC countries' support for the United Nations Humanitarian Response Plan in Yemen for 2019, which provided 42% of the total value of the United Nations plan of $ 4.2 billion aid: The United Arab Emirates provided USD 750 million, Saudi Arabia USD 750 million, the State of Qatar USD 27 million, and the State of Kuwait USD 250 million.
The Council praised the efforts of the Saudi Mine Clearance Program (MASAM), citing the removal of 100,000 mines since the start of the project at a cost of $30 million.
The Council also praised the accomplishments of the Yemeni army support from the Arab Coalition forces on all fronts to restore the authority of the Yemeni state and its institutions, affirming that the states of the Council stand with the Yemeni government led by President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi
