[24/02/2019 07:15]

CAIRO -SABA
President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi stressed the importance that the EU-states of Arab League summit stands against the Iranian interferences in Arab affairs, especially in Yemen.

Hadi also stressed that in light of regional and international changes, the need to develop Arab-European relations and to open channels of dialogue, partnership and cooperation on the basis of mutual interests is growing. He appreciated the support of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the leaders of the United Arab Emirates and all other Arab countries participating in the Arab Coalition as they help Yemen with state restoration, humanitarian relief aid and reconstruction.

He also thanked the contributions of all Arab countries, the European Union and the whole international community for achieving peace in Yemen.

"We are meeting today at the first summit that brings the Arab countries together with the European countries in the light of an international scene characterized by unprecedented changes in the structure of the international system, which directly affects the stability of our Arab region," Hadi said.

"This is a valuable opportunity to discuss ways to strengthen joint action to combat violence, extremism, terrorism, injustice, social injustice, poverty, famine, disease, epidemic and forcible displacement, which dominate the public scene," he added.

He reiterated that the summit must stand firmly against the Iranian interference in the Arab affairs, namely the blatant interference in Yemen by directing the Houthi militias to overthrow the state and supporting them with funds and arms to prolong the war and obstruct peace efforts in the country. He said: "You know that just a short while ago, Iran's encouragement of the Houthis to attack commercial ships in the international shipping lanes south of the Red Sea and threaten Bab al-Mandab Straits closure posed a direct and serious threat to security and stability in this sensitive region of the world. If not the sacrifices of the Yemeni national army and the Coalition the world have been would facing a real dilemma" by now.

He said that "the current developments and conditions in Yemen necessitate the continuation and intensification of EU-Arab cooperation to restore the Yemeni state, end the coup, enable the Yemeni government to carry out its constitutional functions, and press the Iranian Houthi militia to comply with the international resolutions, disarm and return to the political process."

He said that the Yemeni government had been welcoming and supporting the efforts of the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy to Yemen and the rest sponsors of the political process, including the EU states, with a view to achieving a lasting and comprehensive peace in Yemen.

He said that the Government had consistently offered concessions in the different rounds of peace talks and manifested its serious pursuit of peace to spare the country further war scourges and challenges; diseases, poverty, displacement, extremism and terrorism, destruction child recruitments into the conflict.

He said the Yemeni government does not accept the option of failure because it will lead to more suffering. He said that the agreement reached with the coupist militia of in Sweden last December must be implemented. "We do not want to lose this momentum of international push for a sustainable peace in my country," he said.

He said that the government looks forward to the continuity of European and international support to its measures to rescue the country's financial institutions, support the Central Bank and help it build a reserve of foreign cash. With a view to enabling the government to ultimately be able to pay public salaries, mitigate the catastrophic deterioration in the service sectors of electricity, water, sanitation, education, and surmount the epidemics, famine, poverty, unemployment and displacement problems.in Arab affairs, especially in Yemen.
