[20/11/2018 08:07]

ADEN-SABA
Yemen's Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Ibtihaj al-Kamal has called for doubling programs and activities on children and providing more support for food, health, education and psychological domains.

In a press release on the World Children'sDay marked Monday, the 20th of November, al-Kamal stressed significance of integrating efforts of local and international organizations concerned with children affairs, especially underHouthi war, which has been killing, displacing and recruiting children as soldiers and depriving them from education and healthcare.

She made it clear that the reports issued by local and international organizations, especiallyreports on killing more than 5000 children, are awful. The biggest numbers of the killed children have been in Taiz and Hodeida because ofHouthi direct shelling on heavy populated areas.

The war has made more than 11 million children in dire need of quick humanitarian aid, six million lack drinking water and sanitation services and suffer preventable epidemics in addition to 1.8 million child suffer malnutrition and 600 child struggle to survive.

She pointed out that two million children out of three million born during the war triggered by Houthi militia on the people suffer health problems and most of them die due to lack of healthcare and lack of vaccinations in Houthi held areas.

She confirmed that children have been also direct victims to landmines laid by Houthi militia sporadically in populated places and roads and killed up to 800 children.

Minister al-Kamal pointed out that the war pushed more than two million children to labor markets and subjected to hard labor for supporting their families in addition to 23000 children have been recruited by Houthi militia as child soldiers and kidnaping 700 others in their held areas and sending them to warfronts.

She added that around 4.5 million children have dropped out of schools and deprived from schooling since Houthi coup against the state in 2014.
