Deputy Premier, Foreign Minister Abdulmalik Al-Mekhlafi along with Minister of Local Administration—Chairman of Supreme Relief Committee—Abdulraqeeb Fatah met Monday with the UN Panel of Experts in charge of investigating into human rights violations in Yemen.
The Panel of Investigators—headed by Kamal Al-Jandoubi—established under a resolution by the UN Human Rights Council in its previous September round. The team of experts' mission aimed to prop up the capacities of the National Committee for Investigating (NCI) into violations of human rights in our country.
Al-Mekhlafi welcome the team, affirming that the Yemeni government will do its utmost to help the panel doing its job successfully, revealing violations of human rights and holding perpetrators accountable for their crimes against the Yemeni people, including arbitrary arrests, enforced disappearances, torture and recruiting children.
The Foreign Minister stressed the importance of closely cooperation between the NCI and the Panel of Experts in the framework of cooperation and the term stated by the UN Human Rights Council for the Panel to do its job.
Al-Mekhlafi made clear that the Yemeni government alongside with the Arab Coalition have already established Compensations Fund which is set to start its mission soon that aimed to pay compensations for the collateral damage of the war.
For his part, Fatah explained the efforts have been made by the Supreme Relief Committee in cooperation with the Arab Coalition member states in order to provide relief and humanitarian aids to the people in need all over the country.
The Team leader of the Panel experts promised to do their job professionally, fairly and impartially in accordance with the international resolutions in relevant. Al-Jandoubi provided a brief review on the team field visits they paid in Sana'a and Aden, promising more visits to other provinces, on top of all Taiz as the Foreign Minister asked them to do
