The Yemeni Coalition for Counting Human Rights Violations (YCCHRV) unearthed Houthi-Saleh's militias have committed 2258 violations by laying mines in 16 governorates since rebellion against the legal authority.
In a report entitled "Mines are Hidden Killer" released by the coaltion on the International Day on Awareness on Mine Dangers, the coalition said they documented 2258 affected cases by mines planted by militias since the beginning of the war, which entered its third year.
Damages varied between killing, injuring, bombing buildings, booby-trapping vehicles and bridges, and mining wells and gardens.
" Mines have been laid in 16 governorates; Taiz, Mareb,Baidha', Lahj, Aden, Ibb, Sana'a, Abyan, Jawf, Dhale', Amran, Shabw, Sa'ada, Hajja and Dhamar," said the YCCHRV , detailing 615 people have been killed by mine explosions across the above mentioned governorates " 101 among the killed are children, 26 women and 533 civilians. While 82 cases others were registered among soldiers."
According to the Coalition's team's report, 924 cases have been registered as injured, 160 children, 36 women and 682 are adult citizens.
The YCCHRV has called Houthi-Saleh's militias to hand over maps of the mines and to install notice boards in places thought to include mines to protect civilians. It also called on the legal government to exert more efforts on awareness of mine dangers, surveying liberated areas and define mined places and banning civilians not to enter them until being cleared.
Yemen is witnessing catastrophic situation over huge numbers of mines planted by Houthi Saleh's militias in cities, houses, streets, roads, schools and public bodies seized by militias since entering cities by the force of weapons in September 2014 and after withdrawal. The mines killed and injured thousands of civilians.
Peace without measures of banning mines is not complete, said the Secretary General of the United Nations and argued member countries to keep this issue on the top of the agenda while negotiations over peace, banning harms during conflicts and spreading emergent humanitarian responsive plans in areas of wars.
