His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) met today, Sunday with the Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen (CBY) Ahmed Ghaleb al-Ma'aqi and the head of the Economic Team Hassam al-Sharjabi.

The meeting aimed to discuss the latest economic, monetary, and banking conditions and the required measures to mitigate the humanitarian effects of the designation the Houthi militias as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO).

The President briefed by al-Ma'baqi and al-Sharjabi on the developments of the economic situations on top of which the fluctuation of the national currency exchange rates and basic commodity prices as well as the ongoing efforts to alleviate the humanitarian suffering created by the Iranian regime backed terrorist Houthi militias.

The briefings included current indicators, future forecasts of fiscal performance, balance of payments and the position of external reserves, necessary recommendations to stimulate economic recovery and support the national currency in light of local, regional and international changes.

The meeting discussed the needed measures and guarantees to contain the collateral repercussions of designating the Houthi militias as FTO on the vulnerable social groups and to reassure the humanitarian community, national capital and Yemeni expatriates to ensure the flow of their relief aid, commercial activities and financial transfers away from the domination of terrorist militias.

The Chairman of the PLC expressed his confidence in the role entrusted to state institutions, including the Economic and Humanitarian Crisis Management Committee headed by the Prime Minister and the membership of the relevant authorities, to responsibly manage the sanctions file, in order to achieve the desired national goals and promote options and coordinated peace efforts with brothers and friends.
