Governor of Taiz Nabil Shamsan inaugurated Tuesday the University Water Pumping Station project to supply water to the governorate's tanks, with a capacity of 1,000 cubic meters, equipped with a solar energy system of 180 kV.
Following the operation of the water project, attended by the head of the International Organization for Migration in Yemen, Abdulsattar Aysuyf, Governor Shamsan listened to a briefing from the project manager of the International Organization for Migration, Abdulmajid al-Kalady, about the components of the project, which includes an industrial well with a submersible pump, a solar energy system consisting of 272 solar panels with a capacity of 180 kV, a remote monitoring system, an automatic chlorination unit, the installation of 2,000 water meters, and training for 40 trainees to operate and maintain the project, which supplies 1,000 cubic meters to the water institution's tanks, benefiting 60,000 citizens.
Governor Shamsan praised the sustainable developmental projects of the international organization that meet the basic needs of citizens, emphasizing that water is a vital priority.
He noted that the institution has worked on rehabilitating and repairing the water pumping networks to the main tanks, as well as repairing the water supply networks for citizens and residential neighborhoods, which had stopped since the beginning of the war.
He also mentioned the installation of water meters and the preparation of a distribution map for the neighborhoods to connect water to citizens, with ongoing efforts to enhance water supply from the main fields in cooperation with international organizations.
Additionally, Governor Shamsan launched the automated smart card issuance center in the al-Mudhafar District, in the presence of the deputy director of the governorate's police, Colonel Anis al-Shamiri, and the director of the Civil Affairs branch, Major Iskandar al-Mikhlafi.
During the inauguration, the governor and the director of al-Mudhafar district, Mohammed al-Kadahi, observed the technical and logistical preparations of the center for men and women and listened to an explanation from the director of civil affairs about the nature of the work aimed at reducing congestion.
Governor Shamsan inspected also the ongoing work in al-Haseb Sewage Project in al-Mudhafar District and held meeting with Women and Youth Department at the Ministry of Public Health and Population discussing projects related to women.
