Member of the Presidential Leadership Council Major General Aidros Qasim al-Zubaidi has affirmed that Australia's classification of the Iranian-backed Houthi militias as a terrorist group supports the unification of the international stance against the militia's terrorism.

During his meeting today with the Australian Ambassador to Yemen Mark Donovan, al-Zubaidi praised Australia's decision to classify the Houthi militias as a terrorist group, due to the exacerbation of humanitarian conditions in Yemen and the severe damage inflicted on the global economy by this militia.

He expressed hope that this decision would encourage other countries to unify the regional and international stance to formulate a strict and firm strategy to address these terrorist militias.

The two parties discussed several important issues of mutual interest during the meeting, attended by the Deputy Australian Ambassador, Kim Ralston, with a focus on the recent Houthi escalation against international shipping lines in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab, and the Gulf of Aden.

Al-Zubaidi and the Australian ambassador also explored the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and ways to enhance mutual cooperation in various fields to serve common interests and contribute to strengthening security and stability in Yemen and the region.
The meeting addressed the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Yemen due to the catastrophic repercussions of Houthi attacks on vital economic facilities, as well as the efforts made by the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to pull Yemen out of its current economic difficulties.
