Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad al-Alimi has highly appreciated the United Kingdom's announcement of a new support package for the Yemeni Coast Guard.

This initiative is part of coordinated efforts with regional allies and international partners to combat piracy, terrorism, arms smuggling, and organized crime.

In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), President al-Alimi expressed profound gratitude for the new British support, which reflects the distinguished relations between the two friendly nations.

He noted that this announcement coincides with the generous patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sophie and the United Nations for a roundtable with Yemeni women on peace and security, which are central to efforts to restore state institutions, rebuild Yemen, and promote its progress.

On Tuesday, the United Kingdom announced a new support package for the Yemeni Coast Guard, including fast boats and training assistance, as part of close cooperation between the international community and the Yemeni government to prevent piracy and destabilizing smuggling operations affecting Yemen and the region.

This cooperation is based on long-standing ties between the Republic of Yemen and the United Kingdom, which has committed to providing greater developmental support to the Yemeni people in the upcoming phase.
