Deputy Governor of Hadhramout for the Affairs of the Valley and Desert Districts Amer al-Amiri met with a delegation from the Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen, headed by the Head of the Political Affairs Department of the UN Envoy's Office Roxana Yelena Bazargan.

During the meeting, which was attended by the Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Office Ambassador Salem Balfaqih, they discussed the efforts made by the Special Envoy's Office in the past period to create conditions for launching a political process that would end the war and establish a comprehensive, just, and sustainable peace in the country.

The Deputy Governor reviewed the efforts of the local authority in normalizing life and providing services to the citizens in the Valley and Desert Districts of Hadhramaut and the difficulties represented by the scarcity of resources and weak capabilities, especially after the suspension of oil exports.

He also pointed out to the significant pressure on services due to the large displacement of the Valley and Desert directorates from conflict areas, given the region's state of security stability.

Al-Ameri also addressed the problem of immigrants coming from the countries of the Horn of Africa, which poses a security and service problem that troubles state institutions.

He affirmed that the conditions are ready for implementing developmental and investment projects that establish a model for the rest of the regions.

For her part, Roxana clarified that the Special Envoy's Office is working on a ceasefire, seeking to resume oil exports, open roads, and pay salaries as a foundation for a comprehensive political process that leads to sustainable peace.

She pointed out that the visit aims to meet with political components and civil society organizations to discuss perspectives to advance the peace process in Yemen.
