Yemen has reiterated its commitment to doubling efforts to achieve the goals of sustainable development at the country's own capacity and available resources.

Addressing the sixty-second session of the United Nations Commission for Social Development, the country's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Abdullah Al-Saadi said today Yemen is bent on working to achieve the objectives of the World Summit for Social Development 2025, and recommitting to the Copenhagen Declaration on Social Development and the Program of Action.

He said social policies play an important role in promoting development and social justice in accordance with what was stated in the Copenhagen Declaration of 1995 to achieve comprehensive social development that combines economic, social, and environmental dimensions, and to accelerate progress towards the comprehensive goal of eradicating poverty, by improving access to Basic services: education, health, and housing, enhancing job opportunities and stimulating comprehensive economic growth, including family-oriented policies and programs to reduce poverty and hunger.
