Yemen participated in the Second World Refugee Forum for the year 2023, held in Geneva, Switzerland, with a delegation headed by the Minister of State and Governor of Aden, Ahmed Lamlas. In an address, Lamlas said our country is facing great restrictions due to the influx of large numbers of refugees and illegal immigrants, noting that more than 93,000 immigrants are recorded, while others are still not registered.

He pointed out that Yemen is suffering from the complexities of displacement amid a long-standing humanitarian crisis due to the war imposed by the terrorist Houthi militias since September 2014.

Lamlas stressed the need to hold a regional conference under the supervision of the United Nations to develop a comprehensive plan of action to address the phenomenon of illegal immigration, and combat smuggling and human trafficking gangs.
