The Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Economic Development signed Thursday a Grant Agreement with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) worth $1.2 million to contribute to the rehabilitation and maintenance of homes for displaced persons in Yemen.

Lahj Governor praises humanitarian interventions of UNHCR

Governor of Lahj Ahmad Turki praised the vital role of the UN High Commission for Refugees in Yemen for taking care of refugees from the countries of the Horn of Africa living in Kharaz Camp, al-Madharibah and Ra'as al-Arah District and helping the hosting community.
In his meeting Tuesday with Director of Protection Section in the organization, Governor Turki pointed out to enhancing level of humanitarian interventions provided by UNHCR to the camp inmates in fields of education, health, water and electricity.
He confirmed necessity of boosting joint coordination between the local authority and the commission to ensure making quick solutions to difficulties could object activities of the organization.
For his part, the UN official made it clear that the organization will provide the management of Kharaz Camp during 2023 with a number of humanitarian interventions in different fields and the hosting community will benefit from these interventions.
