Yemen, Russia discuss UN peace efforts

Yemen's Ambassador to Russia Salem al-Wahishi discussed with the Special Envoy of Russian President to the Middle East and North African Countries Michael Bogdanove on Thursday efforts associated with efforts of the United Nations for realizing peace in Yemen.

The meeting tackled results of Swedish consultations resulted in agreement on withdrawal of Houthirebel militia from Hodeida and Port of Hodeida within measures of confidence-building and alleviating suffering of the Yemeni people.

Al-Wahishi expressed Yemen's appreciation to Russian efforts for supporting the government of President Abd-Rabbo Mansour Hadi and valued the role of Russia in the UN Security Council- as permanent member- for supporting efforts of the United Nations in realizing peace in Yemen on the bases of the three agreed upon peace references.

For his part, Bogdanov confirmed that Russia will continue its efforts- along with the International Community- for supporting results of the consultations and efforts of the UN envoy for confidence-building measures and realizing peace.
