The U.S. Embassy in Yemen has stated that the inspection of any vessel by the United Nations Verification and Inspection Mechanism in Yemen (UNVIM) does not mean that it is safe from U.S. sanctions, especially those ships, entities and individuals providing material support to the Houthis.

Yemen's president Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi sent a cable of congratulations to His Highness Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on his appointment as Saudi Arabia's crown prince and deputy prime minister.

In the cable, president Hadi expressed to the crown prince Mohammed bin Salman his wishes to him of more success in serving the Saudi nation and realizing all aspirations of prosperity under the wise leadership of the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques king Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

"The Yemeni people, in all its successive generations, will not forget the noble and honest stances of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia toward Yemen and the kingdom's helping of the Yemen people to win their fair cause of protecting the cradle of Arabism (Yemen) from Persian desecration," said the president. " With all capability, you have proved your well-recognized military, economic and political successes and demonstrated your high ambitions as clearly laid out in your future vision (Saudi vision 2030) for a better future to the Saudi people."
