The leadership of the Arab coalition supporting Yemen's government has announced that an oil tanker came under fire while passing through Bab Al-Mandab strait on Wednesday.

The Marshall islands-flagged tanker was attacked by RPGs fired from a boat, but fortunately none of the tanker's crew was hurt. The tanker is now continuing its voyage off the Red Sea, the coalition said in a statement. "A thorough investigation is being conducted to find who stands behind the attack," the coalition statement said.

"Arms- and ammunition-smuggling activities into Yemen that are carried out by Houthi militias threaten maritime security in this vital part of the world."

Nearly four million barrels of oil shipped daily to international markets pass through this strategic waterway.
