The Chargé d' Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Yemen in Sofia, Bulgaria, Ambassador Ahmed Shammar, met today with the Director of the Bulgarian National Library, Professor Kalina Ivanova.
They conferred over the bilateral cooperation between the two countries and explored ways to further promote Yemeni-Bulgarian cultural cooperation.
The two sides agreed to set up a special section for Yemen in the Bulgarian National Library, which will include a collection of books and publications reflecting Yemeni history, civilization and culture, helping researchers and those interested to learn about Yemen's cultural heritage.
They also discussed a draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation in areas such as exchanging books, manuscripts and expertise, supporting digitization and archiving projects, as well as exploring the possibility of providing a research grant for a Yemeni student in the fields of library documentation and studying the Arabic and Yemeni manuscripts available at the Bulgarian National Library.
