ADEN – SABA
Yemen's Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Shaya Zindani held virtual talks on Wednesday with the United Kingdom's Ambassador to Yemen Abda Sharif.

He discussed with her mechanisms for expanding British support for the government's priorities in economic and public service reforms, as well as the implementation of Yemen's economic recovery plan.

The meeting reviewed preparations for a conference scheduled to be held in New York on October, jointly organized by the United Kingdom and the Yemeni government, with the aim of mobilizing support from regional and international partners for the government's vision and strategic priorities.

The two sides also discussed the serious implications of what the Yemeni government described as Iranian violations of Yemen's sovereignty through the operation of flights to Sana'a International Airport, which is under the control of the Houthi movement.

They reviewed the measures taken by the government to deter what it considers a security threat, as well as Houthi attacks against the territory of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The discussions highlighted the risks these actions pose to Yemen's national security, regional stability, and the security of international maritime navigation in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

Dr. Zindani commended the United Kingdom's support for the Yemeni government, particularly its condemnation at the United Nations Security Council of what Yemen described as Iran's violations of its sovereignty and the escalation by the Houthi movement.

He stressed that the Yemeni state would respond firmly to any further violations and would take all lawful measures provided for under the Constitution and international law to safeguard its sovereignty, airspace, and border crossings.

The Prime Minister also outlined the government's ongoing economic, financial, and administrative reform program, highlighting progress achieved despite the country's exceptional circumstances.

He emphasized efforts to improve essential public services and strengthen the efficiency of state institutions, noting that the success of these reforms depends on sustained international support, particularly from Yemen's regional and international partners, with the United Kingdom among its leading supporters.

For her part, the British Ambassador reaffirmed her country's continued support for the Yemeni government and its efforts to implement economic and institutional reforms and promote stability in the country.
