ADEN - SABA
Minister of Water and Environment Eng. Tawfiq Al-Sharjabi and Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Qasem Buhaibeh on Tuesday opened a workshop aimed at strengthening coordination between Yemen's water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH) and nutrition sectors in response to mounting climate and humanitarian challenges.
The workshop, organized by the Ministry of Water and Environment in partnership with several government bodies, the University of Aden, sectoral coordination clusters and UNICEF, brought together government officials, development partners and humanitarian organizations to discuss ways of improving emergency response efforts and building long-term resilience.
Addressing the gathering, Al-Sharjabi stressed that climate change, water scarcity and deteriorating services require a more integrated approach linking water, sanitation and nutrition interventions.
He said the ministry is pursuing sustainable solutions to strengthen water security, including improved water-resource management, expanded use of renewable energy and the development of alternative water sources.
He also emphasized the need to shift from short-term humanitarian interventions toward sustainable development programs capable of strengthening community resilience.
