Prime Minister Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik received today the Humanitarian Coordinator and Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Yemen William David Gressly.
They discussed issues related to the humanitarian situation in Yemen and the existing cooperation and coordination between the government and the United Nations to activate relief and humanitarian work and ensure that aid reaches its beneficiaries, and the obstacles created by the Houthi militia to obstruct and loot it, in addition to identifying priority projects and activating the development path as an alternative to relief.
The Prime Minister discussed with the UN official the results of his recent field visits to a number of governorates, especially Taiz and Hodeidah, to see the humanitarian situation.
The Prime Minister highlighted the difficult humanitarian situation in Yemen as a result of the continued Houthi escalation against civilians and IDPs including by the imposed siege on cities, as in Taiz, and by planting landmines in vast swaths of land
