RIYADH – SABA
Yemen’s Prime Minister Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik and the Netherlands’ Minister for Foreign Trade and Cooperation Ms. Sigrid Kach, discussed in a virtual meeting, today, the developments in Yemen and Yemeni-Dutch cooperation and coordination on a number of issues.
Talks went over the existing coordination to enhance humanitarian access to the needy and over the progress made in implementing the Riyadh Agreement, the priorities of the new Yemeni government, the UN efforts to bring about peace, and the constant intransigent attitude of the Houthi coup militia.
The Prime Minister praised the distinguished bilateral relations between the two friendly countries based on joint cooperation, the Netherlands’s contributions to supporting development projects and relief efforts in Yemen, and its allocation of $ 18 million to support relief efforts for the year 2020 in Yemen.
Abdulmalik said that the most prominent challenge is dealing with the low level of food security, in light of the lack of funding for the humanitarian response plan, stressing the importance of partnership with the government and official institutions for the sake of sustaining humanitarian support and treatments. He expressed his aspiration for more support from the Netherlands and the European Union for the Yemeni people in these critical circumstances.
