Foreign Minister Discusses Cooperation, Coordinating Positions with Mauritanian Counterpart

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Dr. Afrah al-Zouba discussed Thursday via a telephone call with Mauritania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, Dr. Mohamed Salem Ould Merzouk, bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and ways to strengthen and develop them.

They also discussed the latest developments in Yemen and the region, as well as issues of mutual interest.

The two sides affirmed the depth of the fraternal relations between the two countries and their peoples, and expressed their commitment to expanding areas of cooperation, continuing consultations and coordinating positions and views in a manner that serves their shared interests.

Minister al-Zouba briefed her Mauritanian counterpart on the latest developments in Yemen and the region, particularly the recent escalation by the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militia and its repercussions for security, stability, and the safety of international maritime navigation.

The two sides also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.

For his part, the Mauritanian minister affirmed his country’s pride in its fraternal relations with Yemen and its commitment to continuing to develop bilateral cooperation and strengthening consultation and coordination between the two countries in a manner that serves the interests of both countries and their brotherly peoples.
