Council of Ministers reviews priorities in view of Riyadh Agreement

The Council of Ministers convened its regular session Thursday in the interim capital Aden presided over by Prime Minister Dr. Ma'een Abdulmalik. Governors of Aden, Taiz, Lahj, Abyan and Al-Dale'agovernorates contributed to the discussions.

The meeting aimed to address a range of issues and developments in light of Riyadh Agreement between the government and South Transitional Council.

The Cabinet reviews practical steps have been taken by the government to put Riyadh Agreement in place and underway efforts aiming to re-normalize the situations, reinvigorate the state's institutions and redress irregularities in existence.

The government's top priority under Riyadh Agreement were elaborately debated by the Cabinet. Reinstate the state's institutions, pay the government's employees' salaries and carry out security and military arrangements are set out as the most urgent priorities the government has been ordered to focus on in the period ahead.

The Council of Ministers voiced deep appreciation for leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their vitally important support for the Yemeni government and people in different fields.

The Cabinet discussed the Iranian regime's continuous violations of the International resolutions by providing the Houthi rebels with weapons, drones and missiles. The most recent actions in this regard is what the US Pentagon revealed yesterday about detecting a shipment of components of sophisticated Iranian made missiles was in route to the Houthis.

The Cabinet reiterated its calls for a firm stance by the International Community to counter the Iranian expansion policy in the region and its spoiler scheme carried out by its tools including the Houthi rebels.

The Council of Ministers discussed the urgent needs of the governorates of Aden, Taiz, Lahj, Abyan and Al-Dale'a based on the sessions held with the Prime Minister with leaderships of the five governorates.

The Cabined has approved 5 billion Yemeni Rials (YR) to finance the urgently needed interventions in the aforementioned governorates.

300 million (YR) have also been approved to be distributed as compensations for the people who have been affected by the heavy floods in Lahj governorate.
