Experts dismantled on Tuesday more than 6000 landmines the Houthis had planted in the districts of Mokha and Khawkha to the west of Taiz and south of Hodeidah over the past weeks, well-informed sources said.
The sources in the National Mine Action Program told Saba "the Program, in partnership with Saudi demining program (MASAM) dismantled 6324 landmines and unexploded ordinances" west of Taiz.
"The landmines had been planted densely and indiscriminately in populous regions in al-Mokha and al-Khawkha district" near the Red Sea.
Yemeni governmental sources say the theocratic militia of Houthis have planted more than one million landmines across the country over the past five years, and are responsible for hundreds of civilian casualties and the danger still lying in wait for other civilians.
