Minister of Planning holds talks with WB Executive Director

Minister of Planning and International Cooperation DrNajeeb al-Aweg and Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen (CBY) Dr Ahmed al-Fadhli conducted talks on Wednesday in Washington with the Executive Director of the World Bank (WB) Merza Hassan. The session convened within the course of the annual meetings of the WB.
The session devoted to discuss aspects of partnership and cooperation between Yemen and WB.
Discussions mainly focused on the WB's programs and projects in Yemen and the Yemeni government's efforts aiming to cope with the economic and financial challenges Yemen has been facing as a result of Houthi militia's coup and ongoing war.
Al-Aweg voiced the Yemeni government's thanks to the WB for the efforts it has been making to help Yemen manage the economic hardships and bring back the economic stability.
It is important to note that the WB has been supporting Yemen with a portfolio of emergency projects totaling $1.76 billion targeting social protection, health, feeding, small farmers, integrated-urban services and substitute energy.
The Governor of CYP cited practical measures and policies has been adopted by the CYB to manage the financial and Monterey challenges.
