Yemen's Parliament, UAE's Federal Council sign cooperation agreement

Parliament Speaker Sultan al-Barakanimet Sunday with Chairperson of UAE National Federal Council Amal al-Qubaisi within his state visit to the United Arab Emirates.

The two parties discussed a number of key issues and enhancing parliament cooperation through international activities between the two councils on different issues, especially facing Iranian influence in the region, especially in Yemen and UAE support to Yemen for regaining its state and ending Houthi coup.

A memo of understanding between Yemeni parliament and the UAE National Federal Council was signed during the meeting.

The memo of understanding aims at activating parliamentary cooperation between Yemen and UAE via exchanging opinions on different issues of common concern, exchanging visits and parliamentary activities between the two councils, making use of expertise and holding mutual parliamentarian meetings for coordination during regional and international forums.

Al-Barakani reviewed historical relations between the two countries, praising the historical role of the UAE for supporting Yemen politically and developmentally since establishing the state of Emirate by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan.

He acquainted the head of UAE national council with developments in Yemen and humanitarian suffering over Houthi coup, as well as torture, humiliation and killing journalists and political activists in Houthi-held areas.

For her part, al-Qubaisi welcomed al-Barakani in his second country, confirming what the UAE does in Yemen comes in the framework of brotherly duty and in expansion to relations between the two countries and people.

She renewed support to Yemeni people to come out from its ordeal and preparations for regaining security, stability and realizing development, confirming that the forthcoming period will witness more fruitful cooperation between the two parliaments for improving relations between them.

She confirmed that the capacities of the UAE National Federal Council are available for supporting Yemeni parliament in different fields.

The two parties agreed on forming parliamentarian committee between the two councils for improving and boosting mutual relations.
